Community Advisory Boards
The Community Advisory Board guides the UK PRC's core research activities, helping to set research priorities, shape research questions, deliver interventions, and communicate results. Members include representatives from:
- community-based organizations
- county, state, and federal agencies
- faith-based organizations
- school-based organizations
- national nonprofit organizations
- local media
- cancer survivors
Kentucky River Community Advisory Board (KRCAB)
The KRCAB serves as a formal link between communities that are part of the core research study area (a 16-county area surrounding Hazard, Kentucky) and the UK PRC. The KRCAB meets monthly in Hazard, Kentucky. Members include:

Coalitions
The UK PRC collaborates with other coalitions addressing health disparities in Appalachian Kentucky. UK PRC staff serve as members of the Tri-County Cancer Coalition, the Tri-County Health Coalition, and the Kentucky Cancer Consortium.
Tri-County Cancer Coalition.
The Tri-County Cancer Coalition is a non-profit organization whose members include representatives of health agencies, cancer survivors, cancer patients, and concerned citizens. The coalition is dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy to those who have experienced cancer or are now experiencing cancer and reside in Whitley, Laurel, and Knox Counties in Southeastern Kentucky. The coalitionÕs vision is to assist cancer patients and survivors in reclaiming their lives through compassion, commitment, knowledge and support.

Tri-County Community Health Coaltion
The Tri-County Community Health Coalition is a voluntary organization whose members include representatives from several community organizations from Whitley, Laurel and Knox counties. The purpose of the Tri-County Health Coalition is to promote a clear understanding of senior needs; identify and coordinate services of local agencies, providing services to seniors; and serve as a clearinghouse for information on senior issues.

Kentucky Cancer Consortium (KCC)
The KCC, also known as KentuckyÕs comprehensive cancer control program, is a collaboration of community organizations, health agencies, health professionals and concerned citizens working together to reduce the burden of cancer in Kentucky. The KCC coordinates the development and implementation of the Cancer Action Plan (CAP), the guiding document for cancer prevention and control in Kentucky. The CAP is a practical, working document addressing four main areas along the cancer continuum: prevention, early detection, treatment and care, and quality of life. The KCC is supported by the National Comprehensive Cancer Control program, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
