About UK PRC
The UK PRC has developed community relationships and research partnerships to foster activities consistent with its research focus of promoting health and reducing the cancer burden in Appalachia Kentucky through education, training, and research.
Service area
The UK PRC focuses on the 51 counties comprising Appalachian Kentucky.
Goals
The goals of the UK PRC are to:
- Be responsive to the cancer-related needs, interests, and values of the Appalachian population in eastern Kentucky
- Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships
- Maintain community advisory boards
- Build research capacity for cancer prevention and control
- Promote cancer prevention and control research, including a core research project
- Disseminate results from research
- Increase the visibility of the UK PRC in communities
- Continually evaluate and improve UK PRC performance to achieve its goals
Research Agenda
The UK PRC in collaboration with its community advisory boards and scientific advisory committee establishes and maintains a research agenda to address community priorities. The research agenda focuses on promoting community-based, participatory cancer prevention and control research.
