Telemetry
Description of Patient Population
- Description of patient population: Adult medical-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring with the majority of patients having a cardiac diagnosis, along with heart and lung transplant patients that have been transferred from the intensive care unit.
Number of Beds
- 30 bed unit.
Special Certification Requirements
- Nursing Care Technician staff are required to be a Certified Nursing Assistant or nursing students who have completed the basic nursing skills class.
Special Programs
- Nurses collaborate with Pharmacy, Dietetics, Rehabilitation Therapies, Heart/Lung Transplant Coordinators, and Social Services in order to meet the needs of the patients.
- Monitors are controlled by the nursing staff 24 hours a day via a remote control system.
Staffing Patterns
- Staffing ratio is 5 patients/RN with 2-4 Nursing Care Technicians as needed.
