The UK Rapid Response Team consists of critical care nurses who provide 24 hour coverage to all adult areas of the hospital. The goals of the RRT are to facilitate a multidisciplinary effort to improve the outcomes of high acuity patients as well as patients recently cared for in the ICU setting. The role of the Rapid Response RN is to help identify and intervene at the earliest sign and symptom of deterioration in hopes of preventing a decline in clinical status and to make recommendations to improve patient care and outcomes. The RRT makes rounds daily on patients transferred out of ICU to acute care as well as responding to calls for patients experiencing signs of decline, and calls for Code 500's. All Rapid Response RN's will be certified by AACN as CCRN's.
