Description of Patient Population
- Patient population primarily consists of brain, lung, breast, colon, and some gynecological cancers.
- Chemotherapy and bio-chemotherapy patients.
Number of Beds
- 12 private inpatient rooms that include 2 rooms with suites to accommodate family members who stay with the patient.
Special Features
- A designated discharge planner and social worker are available to assist staff in meeting the needs of the cancer patient.
- Special laundry facility is located on 3rd floor for patients and families.
Special Programs
- Therapy dogs (Dellie and Kate) normally visit with patients and families on Thursday evening as time allows.
- Events on special holidays for the patients and families are sponsored by various volunteer organizations.
- Trained employees facilitate special programs/classes offered through the American Cancer Society.
Staffing Patterns
- Staffing patterns are 1RN to 4 patients for 1st(7a-3p) and 2nd (3-11p) shift and 1RN to 5-6 patients for 3rd shift (11p-7a)2 till 11pm.
- Each shift has 1-2 nursing care techs (NCTs) that is contingent on census and acuity.
