Description of Patient Population
- Patient population primarily consists of gynecological, head and neck, brain, breast, and colon cancers and cystic fibrosis.
- Patients requiring medical and surgical interventions, as well as, chemotherapy and inpatient radiation treatments.
Number of Beds
- 28 private inpatient rooms. There are 2 suites with separate family accommodations on the 2nd floor designed for radiation patients with family staying to assist.
Special Features
- All private rooms with private baths.
- Each room is equipped with a chair that converts to a feb for overnight visitors.
- Each room is equipped with a TV/VCR.
- There are 6 lead lined rooms designated for radiation patients.
- A designated case manager, care coordinator, and social worker to assist staff in meeting the needs of the cancer patient.
- Special laundry facility/family kitchen is located on 3rd floor for patients and families.
Special Programs
- Therapy dogs normally visit with patients and families on Thursday evening as time allows.
- Events on special holidays for the patients and families are sponsored by various volunteer organizations.
- Trained employees facilitate special programs/classes offered through the American Cancer Society.
- Supportive Oncology Services. - Integrative Medicine Program (acupuncture, massage, energy therapy)
- Symptom Management and Palliative Care Program
Staffing Patterns
- 6 Registered Nurses (RNs) and 3 Nursing Care Techs (NCTs) 7am till 11pm.
- 4 RNs and 2 NCTs 11pm till 7am.
