Description of Patient Population
- Patients of all ages who have sustained burn injuries
Number of Beds
- 4 bed unit.
- Unit averages 86 burn patients per year and 56 non-burn patients
Special Certification Requirements
- Nursing staff must complete a Burn Course after their orientation period and become certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) in addition to ACLS
Staffing Patterns
- Staffing ratio is 1 – 1.5 patients/RN, 24 hours a day with a Nursing Care Technician as needed.
