Description of Patient Population
- Patient population mostly consists of blood cancers, i.e. lymphomas, leukemics, and multiple myelomas. They are treated with autologous, allogenic or syngeneic Blood and Marrow transplants.
- Outpatient clinic operation hours are 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Outpatients are seen on the weekends by inpatient staff.
Number of Beds
- 16 private rooms.
Special Features
- A designated nurse practitioner, discharge planner, and social worker to assist staff in meeting the needs of the cancer patient .
- Special laundry facility is located on 3rd floor for patients and families.
- Each room has Hepa-filter air systems.
- Each room is supplied with a treadmill for daily exercise.
Special Programs
- Events on special holidays for the patients and families are sponsored by various volunteer organizations.
Staffing Patterns
- The staffing ratio is 1 RN to 3 patients.
- Each shift is staffed with 1-2 NCTs based on the census and acuity.
