UK hospital/Kentucky Children’s Hospital recognizes and honors nursing staff for clinical excellence and a commitment to the profession of nursing annually during National Nurses Week and also throughout the year. The staff that receive these honors are nominated by their peers and management staff. The annual awards are:

• The M.J. Dickson Quality Nursing Care Award that recognizes a nurse who shares Ms. Dickson’s commitment to professional nursing and demonstrates excellence in clinical practice.
• The Diana Weaver Leadership/Management Award recognizes nursing leader/managers who promote quality nursing care.
• The Magnet Recognition Award recognizes team members on a unit for nursing excellence.
• We also recognize RN/LPN’s and NCT’s throughout the year with a Clinical Excellence Award. The recipients of these awards are also honored annually during National Nurses Week at an awards dinner.
