Microarray Facility Pilot Program
FY2008
The DNA Microarray Facility has been operational since July 1, 2001. It has developed the technology for Affymetrix chips as well as custom cDNA Microarrays. To enable scientists to introduce this technology to their research programs and develop preliminary data for external grant applications, the Vice President for Research and the Associate Vice President for Research are making available funds for critical pilot experiments that involve the use of DNA Microarray technology. These funds will be primarily for Microarray services and supplies up to $5,000.
An e-mail (limit two to five pages) of a proposal for funding of critical pilot experiments may be submitted at any time throughout the fiscal year.
Proposals should include:
** Cover Sheet
Obtain the cover sheet at the following site: http://www.research.uky.edu/vpresearch/guide/servicecenter.html
1) Purpose of the pilot experiment
2) Brief description of the pilot experiment
3) Justification for how the results of the pilot experiment will enhance ongoing research or lead to new funding opportunities using Microarray technology
4) Tentative budget
5) Date experimental material would be available for DNA Microarray analysis
6) Current research support
7) Brief formatted NIH biographical
sketch.

E-mails are to be sent to gotgrants@email.uky.edu. The Microarray Facility Advisory Committee will review the proposals on the first of every month and make funding recommendations. Applicants will be notified when funding decisions are made, usually within two weeks of review. Potential applicants may contact the Microarray Facility at (859)323-6979 or www.mc.uky.edu/UKMicroArray, regarding details, procedures and methods available.
