Research Interests

Studies on the detection, action, uses and effects of drugs and medications in performance horse. Synthesis of critical drug metabolites and standards, development of ELISA tests for drugs and medications in racing horses, analytical chemistry including GC-MS and LC-MS analysis of drugs and medications and new recombinant DNA products used in racing and competition animals, quantification of pharmacological and therapeutic effects of drugs and medication in the horses and the clinical pharmacology and forensic toxicology of the horse. Current studies involve clinical and forensic pharmacology of local anesthetics, cocaine, vasodilators and amantadine and rimantadine and also agents used in the treatment of equine protozoal myelitis. Substantial intellectual property generated: books, immunoassay licensing, expert opinions. Honors include HBPA man of the Year, 1995. Over 250 research paper publications. books etc. on Toxicology, Clinical Veterinary and Forensic Pharmacology and related areas.
