Graduate Center for ToxicologyWelcome to the Web site for the Graduate Center for Toxicology (GCT) at the University of Kentucky. The GCT, established as a degree-granting program in 1969, has graduated approximately 140 students with a Ph.D. in Toxicology who have gone on to productive careers in academia, government and industry. The Ph.D. program in Toxicology ranked in the top quartile in the National Research Council survey of doctoral programs in Toxicology and is also supported by an Environmental Toxicology Training Grant funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The following pages describe the research, teaching and training programs of the GCT. Highlight (Updated 7/22/09)The Li lab has an article in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology that has gained new insight into the genetic mechanisms underlying Huntington's disease and other neurodegenerative or neuromuscular disorders caused by trinucleotide repeat expansion. The work, a collaborative study with Dr. Liya Gu, was done by research scientist Caixia Hou and Toxicology graduate student Nelson Chan in the lab.
