SCoBIRC FACULTYGregory Neal Barnes, MD., PhD.Assistant Professor, Research InterestsAward from NINDS entitled" Molecular Basis of Mossy Fiber Sprouting in Epilepsy" Number 1 K08 NS 019910-01 NEST - This grant combines histology, immunocytochemistry, molecular biology, hippocampal culture explant technology, transgenic mice, and adenoviral mediated gene transfection to systematically investigate the role of the axonal guidance molecules such as semaphorins in mossy fiber sprouting and develop the methodology to study other potential candidate genes activated during epileptogenesis.
