2008 Commonwealth Collaborative Award
Mt. Sterling Health Initiative, a project led by Dr. Robert McKnight in partnership with the Montgomery County Health Department, was one of 13 new Commonwealth Collaboratives announced in January by University of Kentucky President Lee Todd. In cooperation with health department director Jan Chamness and other local stakeholders, Dr. McKnight and the Southeast Center have been working since 2001 to address the preventive health care needs of the region's rapidly growing Hispanic population. The 2008 Commonwealth Collaborative award recognizes the Mt. Sterling Health Initiative as one of 36 high priority projects designed to improve Kentucky's schools, business climate, environment, health care, and quality of life.
