How long will I be there?
The clinic is open Tuesday and Thursdays, 5:30-8:00pm. Physical Therapy is open on Thursdays,
5:30-8:00pm. We are committed to having attending physicians and therapists out of the clinic no
later than 9:00pm, which means students should be able to leave by 9:30pm at the latest.
Physical therapy students are often out a little earlier due to their lower
volume of patients. |

How do I get there?
Follow the map to the Salvation Army and park anywhere in the front lot. The clinic
is located in the Hanger Lodge of the Salvation Army complex, the building furthest
from downtown. Once inside, sign in at the front desk and the attendant will direct
you to the clinic area hallway. Half way down the hall on the right you will come to
the physical therapy treatment room. At the end of the hall on the right will be the
evaluation rooms for the doctors. |

How many patients will we see?
The medical students can expect to see 8-12 patients on any given night at the clinic,
depending on the number of students available and the particular cases seen.
The physical therapy students can expect to see 1-5 patients depending on the number
of referrals to the clinic. The medical students may refer patients to physical therapy
so there may be some overlap of patients.. |

What’s expected from me?
Nothing with which you are uncomfortable. Often on a first visit to the clinic,
students choose to simply observe another student interview and perform the
physical exam. As you feel more confident, you can take on more responsibility.
The goal is for the students to be independent in performing an initial
examination and writing up a progress note. Medical students will
be expected to present to the attending physician. Physical
therapy students will be expected to formulate an intervention with the tools
available and implement the plan of care. A physician and
physical therapist will be there at all times during clinic hours of operation
and available for consultation. Although the clinic is a relaxed environment,
you are expected to act and dress professionally as is usually in the hospital.
Patient confidentiality is paramount. |
