Psychological Services

Psychologists with residentUK North Fork Valley Community Health Center is pleased to offer integrated and comprehensive access to quality behavioral health services. Our services are provided in collaboration with UK clinic providers, and encompass a full range of psychological services across the life span. Behavioral science faculty include two clinical psychologists, both of whom are natives of eastern Kentucky.

Dr. Tamara Knox serves as the Director of Behavioral and Community Medicine for the East KY Family Medicine Clinic and Residency Program. Dr. Knox has over 15 years of experience as a psychologist working within Appalachian health care settings. She is committed to improving the health and well being of local residents, and she has devoted the majority of her career to working within family practice settings, where she has specialized in working with adults presenting with anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as a range of stress related health problems. Services are provided in collaboration with UK Family Medicine faculty and residents.

Dr. Shelli Deskins specializes in treating children and their families, and her experience in assessing and treating children includes a wide variety of emotional and behavioral issues including depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, ADHD, autism and trauma-related difficulties. She has extensive training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which is an empirically validated treatment for behavior disorders.
