Resident Conferences

The University of Kentucky Radiology Residency Program offers a two-year
comprehensive conference curriculum which encompasses all aspects of radiology with a
combination of core didactic lectures, case-based conferences and interactive,
conferences. Conferences occur twice daily (7:00 am & noon) on most days and cover all
subspecialty areas, clinically integrated physics and the six competencies.

Over the span of two years, Residents experience a minimum of 18 didactic lectures and
18 case-based conferences in each of the nine subspecialty areas, weekly resident case
conferences, journal clubs, M&M’s, interdepartmental conferences/symposiums, as well
as bi-monthly or quarterly lectures in quality & safety, professional practice, and research
& scholarly activity. Residents also receive didactic instruction from renowned Blue
Grass Visiting Professors on a variety of topics throughout the year.

During certain times of the year, Residents attend conferences for call preparation, in-
service exam review or ABR board reviews as relevant to their education. In addition,
beginning in the second year of training, Residents will design and give one conference
per year. This series allows Residents the opportunity to explore individual areas of
interest and share their learning experiences in Radiology with their colleagues while
developing their teaching and presentation skills. Residents work closely with Faculty
mentors as they develop their presentations
