Information for ApplicantsAPPOINTMENT & ELIGIBILITY: Residents must be graduates of an LCME or AOA accredited medical school. Graduates of medical schools outside of the United States and Canada who are ECFMG certified and have full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky are also eligible. In addition, residents must complete a one-year, ACGME-approved (or equivalent) clinical internship year in internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery or surgical specialties, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, family medicine, emergency medicine, or any combination of these specialties. The clinical year may also comprise a transitional year accredited by the ACGME or equivalent organization. During the clinical year, elective rotations in diagnostic radiology must occur only in radiology departments with an ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology residency program and cannot exceed two months. All residents must be eligible for Kentucky Medical Licensure. Six residents are appointed through the NRMP each year (program is accredited for 25 resident lines). SELECTION: Resident selection will be supervised by the Radiology Residency Program Director with consultation from the Department of Radiology Resident Selection Committee. The Program will select eligible applicants on the basis of residency-related criteria such as preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. The program will not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or any other applicable legally protected status. Materials solicited for review will include a CV, common application form, medical school transcript(s), Dean’s letter, three letters of recommendation, personal statement, USMLE (or equivalent) transcripts and ECFMG certification (if applicable).
