Welcome to UK's MSK Fellowship Program

How to apply for Musculoskeletal Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in our ACGME-accredited fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Kentucky. Our Department offers an intensive one-year program to qualified radiologists seeking subspecialty training in this area. One position is offered each year.  The program will include all aspects of clinical musculoskeletal care, including extensive training in sports medicine MRI, musculoskeletal CT, nuclear medicine imaging, musculoskeletal ultrasound and intervention.

At UK, the Musculoskeletal Division has a close working relationship with the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Department, and the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Internal Medicine.  There are dedicated monthly interdepartmental conferences with Orthopedic Surgery and Rheumatology as well as conferences with the Radiology Department where musculoskeletal imaging is stressed.

Members of the section are actively involved in teaching programs at the medical student, resident, and postgraduate levels. We participate in national meetings, in particular the Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR). There will be opportunities for research and teaching in musculoskeletal radiology, and musculoskeletal fellows will be encouraged and supported in the development of their academic interests.  Fellows are expected to participate with the faculty in the ongoing education of medical students and diagnostic radiology residents.  Noon conference lectures are given by the musculoskeletal fellow for the radiology residents.

The fellowship is open to candidates who have completed a radiology residency program and will be certified by the American Board of Radiology or in the examination process by the July 1 start date. Medical licensure in the state of Kentucky is also required. Applications for the 2014-2015 academic year will be accepted starting July 1, 2012. The application deadline is November 1 of the same year.
