Three-Dimensional Treatment Planning

Advanced high-resolution computer graphic capabilities can now display patient anatomy with greater clarity and help physicians better direct radiation to tumors while avoiding healthy tissue. New techniques are under investigation to improve the effectiveness of three-dimensional radiation planning.

Improved Techniques for dosimetry of Brachytherapy Sources

More accurate measurement techniques now being evaluated will lead to more accurate delivery of radiation implant therapy to cancer patients.

Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy

Techniques are under development to take full advantage of recent advances in machine hardware capabilities that make it possible to achieve greatly improved radiation delivery in complex geometries.

Radiation Physics of Megavoltage Grid Therapy

New treatment strategies using a grid offer rapid relief to patients with bulky tumors. Radiobiological modeling studies are in progress to enhance the therapeutic effects of this device.

High Dose Rate Remote After Loading

Applications for new micro-sources with H.D.R. Brachytherapy in benign and malignant disorders.
