The Commonwealth of Kentucky leads the nation in COPD, asthma, and lung cancer. A number of multidisciplinary programs within the Markey Cancer Center bring state-of-the-art therapy to the treatment of patients with thoracic tumors thereby uniting medical oncologists, thoracic surgeons and pulmonologists in the evaluation and treatment of chest tumors.

Located at the University’s Good Samaritan Hospital, the Sleep Disorder Center is a joint effort between the two hospitals and represents the most well respected Sleep Lab in central Kentucky.

Our research efforts are supported annually by $2,000,000 in grants focusing on research in respiratory muscle dysfunction, the biology of lung cancer, and the management of COPD and asthma. We are adding research trials frequently and will show updates on our Ongoing Research page.
