MHA Alum Sworn in as U.S. Air Force Lieutenant

Longford Nguyen, MHA, ‘11 alumnus, was sworn in as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force at a ceremony on February 2, 2012 by retired Air Force Brigadier General Ray Garman, MD, MPH, Associate Professor in the UK College of Public Health.  Longford will be attending a four and a half week commissioned officer training program in Montgomery, AL at Maxwell AFB in the Medical Service Corps.

At the conclusion of his training at Maxwell, he will take part in a three year commissioned training program at Laughlin Air Force base in Del Rio, TX.  His career aspirations are to work in the health care profession in the Air Force as a Health Services Administrator in a military hospital facility.

“I am excited to take this important step in moving forward in serving my country as an Air Force officer in the Medical Service Corps.  In addition, I am extremely happy to be able to do what I love in health administration while serving a higher purpose,” Nguyen said.
