CHS Physical TherapyPrograms of StudyThe College of Health Sciences offers three degree tracks for students in the field of Physical Therapy.
Doctor of Physical Therapy degreeThe Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a post-baccalaureate degree conferred upon successful completion of a doctoral level professional (entry-level) or post-professional education program. The specific nomenclature "DPT" is not a substitute or alternative for the physical therapist clinical designator "PT." The entry-level professional degree offered at the University of Kentucky is the DPT. Click here for information on the DPT program.
Rehabilitation Sciences PhD ProgramThe Rehabilitation Sciences PhD Program is designed to produce academic leaders in rehabilitation sciences for the physical therapy profession, along with three others. Graduates of the program will be prepared to conduct rehabilitation related research, teach in higher education, direct discipline-specific educational programs, work in the rehabilitation services field, and collaborate with other professions on various issues related to rehabilitation. Doctor of Physical Therapy - Transition ProgramThe University of Kentucky Division of Physical Therapy offers the opportunity for currently licensed physical therapists to receive their Doctor in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree through the completion of our DPT-Transition program. Deadline for the next admissions period is October 15, 2008. The DPT-Transition Program facilitates for practitioners the development and enhancement of knowledge and expertise that have increasingly become expected as entry-level in the current health care environment. The program also provides excellent opportunities to grow in areas of specific skill and interest by allowing students to tailor many class activities to enhance their areas of clinical expertise. |
