Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Nitz received his B.S. in Biology from Wheaton College in 1975 and a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from the US Army-Baylor University in 1976. Following four years of active duty in the US Army as a physical therapist, he began work on a doctoral degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky in 1980. After receiving a PhD from UK in 1984, Dr. Nitz accepted a faculty position in the Department of Physical Therapy at UK while simultaneously maintaining an outpatient orthopedic/EMG private practice he began in 1980.

Dr. Nitz has continued to teach orthopedic physical therapy and electrophysiological assessment for graduate and entry-level physical therapy students for the past 17 years. He serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the Division of Physical Therapy where he is a full professor. In addition he has continued to practice and conduct clinical research at UK and the private practice setting. Dr. Nitz is happily married and the father of five wonderful children.
