WEDNESDAY DIDACTIC CONFERENCE

Time:  1-5 PM               Topic:  Various
Faculty:  Various

Description:  Residents are excused from their clinical duties on Wednesday afternoons to attend didactics; individual resident attendance needs to be maintained at or above 90%.  Residents meet in the department for lunch from 12-1 PM and are scheduled for didactics from 1-5 PM. Didactics are interactive and involve multiple formats including case-based conferences, videotaped interviews, psychotherapy material, literature and film discussions and telemedicine courses. Didactics are organized to expose residents to all areas of psychiatry over the course of residency. The Residency Education and Didactic curriculum committee (Steve Johnson, LCSW, Chair) is involved in planning the schedule.  PGY2 and above residents may elect to teach selected topics.  On a rotating basis, departmental Grand Rounds and resident Peer Review sessions are held on Wednesdays from 1-2 PM.  Journal club is typically an hour long session embedded into the didactic schedule.  To review the didactic schedule and lecture topic listing, click here.
