ROTATION SITES

UK Hospital University of Kentucky Albert Chandler Medical Center
University of Kentucky Hospital is a 400-bed hospital and is a site for the Consultation-Liaison and Emergency Psychiatry (CL-ER) rotation for PGY 2 residents. Dr. Jeffrey Tuttle MD is the Medical Director for the UK Chandler CL-ER site.


Good Samaritan Hospital University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital
This is a 150 bed community hospital within which our 19 bed Adult and 12 bed Adolescent Psychiatric Units are located. PGY 1 and 2 residents rotate through the Adult unit. This is also a site for a second Consultation-Liaison & Emergency Psychiatry rotation for PGY 2 residents. Laurie Humphries MD is medical director for the Adolescent Unit, Dan Borders, MD for CL-ER and Cletus Carvalho MD for the Adult Unit.


Blazer Building UK Outpatient Clinic
UK Outpatient Clinic The University of Kentucky Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic is located approximately four miles from the main campus in a spacious, attractive facility with large meeting rooms, group rooms, a play therapy room, and library. Approximately 100 patients per day are seen at this facility in a variety of special clinics including Child Team Clinics, Forensic Clinics, Adult Team Clinic, and Psychopharmacology Clinic. State of the art telemedicine equipment links the clinic with main campus and a variety of distant sites for clinical, administrative and educational purposes. Also located in the building are the Department of Psychiatry Research program offices and the Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS program) - an assessment and intervention program for neglected and abused children funded by the state and co-administered by the Department of Psychiatry and the College of Social Work.

VA Medical Center Veterans Affairs Medical Center
The Veterans Affairs Hospital is a 333-bed acute care facility adjacent to the University of Kentucky Hospital that contains a 19-bed acute care psychiatry unit. Inpatient rotations for residents include the inpatient unit and a CL-ER psychiatry service.

The VA also includes an outpatient facility five miles away that provides outpatient services for substance abuse, posttraumatic stress disorder and a wide variety of general psychiatric illness.


Kentucky Clinic University Health Service
Some residents rotate to the University Student Mental Health Clinic, an outpatient service providing services to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Kentucky. PGY 3 and 4 residents also rotate through the Eastern Kentucky University Student Mental Health in Richmond which is 30 miles south of Lexington.


Kentucky Clinic Bluegrass Community Mental Health Centers
PGY-3 and 4 residents rotate through this Comprehensive Care Center system that serves Fayette and neighboring counties. Bluegrass provides outpatient psychiatric services to patients of all ages with a diverse list of needs. More information can be obtained through their website www.bluegrass.org.


Other affiliated sites: Kentucky School for the Deaf, Harris Center for Psychology Services, Shepherd’s House, Oakwood, and Ridge Hospital.
