CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY TRAINING PROGRAM The department offers two-year training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is fully accredited by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The first year of the program can be taken in lieu of the last year of general psychiatry training and serves to complete training requirements for board eligibility in general psychiatry. We strongly encourage applicants to complete three years of adult psychiatry training before beginning a child fellowship. Highly qualified applicants are eligible to enter the program following the completion of one year of ABPN approved training. Entering the fellowship early does not guarantee that the adult portion of training will be able to completed at our institution. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training is enhanced by the presence of our nationally recognized Triple Board (Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry) program. Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists comprise a substantial proportion of the Department of Psychiatry. We currently have 15 Child and Adolescent psychiatrists in the department providing residents with variety in clinical experience and supervision. Many of our residents have been recognized nationally for their research and outstanding clinical work. How to Apply to the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program:We participate in the Child NRMP at the present time. Applications are accepted between August 1st and October 31st.
