The Department of Psychiatry was selected for the Victor Teichner Award from the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry. This is the first year for this award and applications were solicited from program directors nationally. The award provides one program with a visiting scholar, with special expertise in psychodanymic psychiatry and/or psychoanalysis, for a 2-3 day visit to participate in a variety of educational endeavors. These could include presenting Grand Rounds, meeting individually with residents and faculty, conducting small group teaching sessions, rounding with inpatient or consult teams or doing whatever we think would be educationally enriching. We are very excited to receive this award!

Congratulations to Jeffrey Tuttle , MD, on being selected as aFellow of the American Psychoanalytic Association for the 2007-08 year. This is an extremely competitive award established to provide outstanding early-career psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and academics with exposure to psychoanalysis. As a fellow, Jeff will have his expenses paid to attend the winter and annual meetings of the American Psychoanalytic Association, will be assigned a mentor, receive a number of journals and books and will be invited to present and/or chair sessions at the meetings he attends. Our program has nominated a number of residents over the years for this award but we have never been successful in having anyone chosen for it, so we are especially proud that Jeff is receiving this. Please join me in congratulating Jeff on this wonderful award!
