College of Medicine Logo How to Apply for General Psychiatry or Triple Board Programs

We participate in NRMP and all applications are processed through ERAS, the automated residency application program. Please follow ERAS application directions.

Application deadline: December 1st

Application Procedure for International Medical Graduates (IMG’s)
International medical graduates must have graduated from medical school no more than eight years ago if not currently engaged in active medical practice. A letter of recommendation from your medical school is preferred.
Applications will only be accepted through ERAS with a dealine of December 1st.
J-1 visas are the normal status required for residency training; no other visa's are accepted nor is an EAD.
Applicants must have passed Parts 1 and 2 of the USMLE within two attempts, including the English language and clinical skills assessment exam (CSA).
There are no minimum score requirements but priority will be given to those with the highest scores.
Priority will be given to applicants who either practiced Psychiatry in their home country or who obtained a neuroscience-related graduate degree in this country. A reasonable amount of U.S. Clinical experience is preferred.
The personal statement should be well written, demonstrate a command of written English, and provide information regarding the applicant’s interest in Psychiatry.
All international medical graduates selected to interview based on the above criteria. If selected to interview, candidates may be asked to perform a brief, live psychiatric evaluation of a patient and a medical evaluation of a standardized patient as part of the interview process.
