About The Study

The PREvention of Alzheimer's Disease with Vitamin E and SElenium (PREADViSE) study is a memory study that was added to the Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT).

The purpose of PREADViSE is to determine if taking the antioxidants selenium and/or vitamin E as supplements, could prevent Alzheimer's disease and other less common forms of dementia.

PREADViSE is sponsored by the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health, a government agency. This study is coordinated by researchers at the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, an Alzheimer's Disease Center. More than 4,000 of the more than 35,000 men in SELECT elected to take part in PREADViSE. PREADViSE is now in its last year of Centralized Follow-up and is contacting participants for final information updates.
