University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center

The University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center was established in 1957 and encompasses the Colleges of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, and the Kentucky School of Public Health, as well as University of Kentucky Hospital, UK Children's Hospital and the Centers of Excellence. The University of Kentucky Hospital is a 473-bed hospital, which holds a position of leadership as a statewide, regional, and national referral center. This comprehensive health care center has approximately 19,000 admissions annually from all 120 counties in the Commonwealth. The UK Hospital offers comprehensive services in pediatrics, including sophisticated neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care, transplantation (bone marrow, heart, lung and heart/lung, liver, renal and corneal); and obstetrics and gynecology, including high-risk obstetrics. Other services include trauma, surgical, cancer, geriatric, cardiac, and burn specialties, magnetic resonance imaging, reproductive medicine, psychiatry, and various other medical specialties. Extensive consultative, outpatient, and electrodiagnostic services are offered as part of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training program.

Kentucky Children's Hospital

The University of Kentucky Children's Hospital was established in 1997 and is associated with 132 beds, a 44-bed in-patient center with an outpatient area, a 50-bed Level III neonatal nursery, and a 12-bed state-of-the art pediatric intensive care unit.

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital

A 110-bed free standing rehabilitation hospital located two miles from and formally affiliated with the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Specialty inpatient programs include Amputee, Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuromuscular, Orthopedic, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, and Pulmonary for patients of all ages. Cardinal Hill is fully accredited by the Commission of the Accreditation of Rehabilitation and delivers the latest in research, teaching, and technology services. A wide range of day programs and outpatient services are also available.

Shriners Hospital for Children

This pediatric orthopedic facility, located three miles from University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, serves a five state region with extensive inpatient and outpatient services. Intensive surgical and rehabilitative services are provided on the 50-bed inpatient unit. Outpatient services include management of cerebral palsy, myelodysplasia, scoliosis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, congenital and traumatic amputations, and a variety of childhood musculoskeletal disorders.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a modern tertiary care facility adjacent to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where extensive outpatient clinics, therapies, inpatient consultations, and electrodiagnostic services are provided. This approximately 150-bed hospital serves veterans from Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and Tennessee and actively supports research in a wide variety of specialties.
