Residency Support StaffThe Residency Staff consists of the Residency Program Director, Associate Residency Program Director, Director of Medical Education, Residency Coordinator and Chief Resident(s). This group is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the residency, including salary, vacations, didactic/clinical scheduling, and recruitment. RESIDENCY PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
Dr. Nickerson is responsible for the overall administration of the residency program. He serves as the representative for the residency program both inside and outside of the Department and the University. Activities include coordinating resident clinical rotations, didactic/chief round schedules, electrodiagnostic-related didactic/clinical experiences, and resident evaluations. His Program Director activities are coordinated through Shirley Gardner. ASSOCIATE RESIDENCY PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Our Associate Residency Program Director is responsible for the day to day administration of the residency program.They must mentor and assist our residents with their day to day needs, and serve on the Education Committee for the department. 2010-2011 Chief Residents: Chief Resident of Academics
The Chief Resident of Academics serves as the resident representation at departmental Education Committee meetings, departmental Research Committee meetings, and departmental Faculty meetings. The Chief Resident of Academics will assist the Residency Program Director in the scheduling of the didactic sessions/chief rounds/journal clubs with regard to resident participation. Recording resident attendance at all didactic sessions is also the responsibility of the chief resident of academics. Chief Resident of Administration
The Chief Resident of Administration will prepare the on call/holiday schedule for the academic year. Any resident modifications of the on call schedule during the year will go through the chief resident who will notify all involved faculty/staff of the changes in schedule. The Chief Resident of Administration will serve as the departmental representative to the University of Kenutkcy Graduate Medical Education Chief Resident Forum. The Chief Resident of Administration may be requested to assist in the resident recruitment process with regard to scheduling and interviews. The Chief Resident of Administration will be responsible for monitoring vacation, sick leave, and bonus days. The Chief Resident of Administration will also assist PGY-1 residents with issues that may arise on their off service rotations. |
