Residency Support StaffThe Residency Staff consists of the Residency Program Director, Associate Residency Program Director, Director of Medical Education, Residency Coordinator and Chief Resident(s). This group is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the residency, including salary, vacations, didactic/clinical scheduling, and recruitment. RESIDENCY PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Dr. Nickerson is responsible for the overall administration of the residency program. He serves as the representative for the residency program both inside and outside of the Department and the University. Activities include coordinating resident clinical rotations, didactic/chief round schedules, electrodiagnostic-related didactic/clinical experiences, and resident evaluations. His Program Director activities are coordinated through Shirley Gardner. ASSOCIATE RESIDENCY PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Dr. Walters is responsible for the day to day administration of the residency program. As a graduate of the program, and now an Assistant Professor the department, Dr. Walters offers a unique perspective in mentoring and assisting our residents with their day to day needs, and serves on the Education Committee for the department. RESIDENCY COORDINATOR: 2009-2010 Chief Residents: The Chief Resident's serve as a liaison between residents and faculty, while serving as a role model for the other residents. Administrative duties include preparation and maintenance of the on-call schedule, supervision of resident vacation/leave planning, serving as the departmental representative to the University Chief Resident’s Forum and attending faculty meetings. Educational responsibilities include assisting in creating the clinical rotation/didactic/chief round schedule, and serving as resident representative at departmental educational and research committees. |
