Residency Awards

The Residency awards are presented at the conclusion of each year at the beautiful Spindletop Hall.  At this ceremony, the Preceptor of the Year Award, the Extra Mile Award, the Impact Award, and the Outstanding Pharmacy Resident Award are awarded to UK's finest.
Preceptor of the Year  
Award Description: "This award is given to the preceptor who has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty for the residents. This is a person that has demonstrated continued interaction and involvement with the residency and freely serves as an educator, mentor, and advisor to all residents." 

Voting is limited to residents. The award consists of a plaque.

The Extra Mile Award 
Award Description: "This award is given to the resident who consistently goes the extra step to help everyone out whenever possible while maintaining a positive attitude. This person can be relied upon for those last-minute emergencies, to do a commendable job, and to never expect anything in return. The recipient frequently volunteers his/her time to maintain and advance the residency program. The hallmark of the award is a selfless attitude and a devotion to his/her peers." 

All residents are eligible to receive this award. Voting is limited to residents only.  
The award consists of a plaque and a restaurant gift certificate.

The Impact Award 
Award Description: "This award is given to the resident who has worked within the residency to demonstrate leadership in the profession of pharmacy, develop as a progressive practitioner and leader at national and international levels, demonstrate excellence in the aspects of performance embodied by this residency program (accomplishment, impact, creativity, and commitment), and has been deemed by his/her peers as the individual most likely to have the greatest impact on professional pharmacy practice." 

Only departing residents are eligible to receive this award. Voting is limited to residents.
The award consists of a certificate, an engraved mint julep cup, and a restaurant gift certificate.

Outstanding Resident Award 
Award Description: "The outstanding resident award recognizes an individual that maintains high standards of professionalism, promotes pharmacy education, and serves as a role model for other residents and students.
Professionalism
  • Maintains a good working relationship with other professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians
  • Consistently exceeds established residency goals
  • Actively shapes future pharmacy practice through involvement in University of Kentucky Medical Center and other organizations
Promotes Pharmacy Education
  • Plays an active role in the education of pharmacy students
  • Actively works to educate patients, healthcare professionals, and the community
  • Continually improves his/her knowledge base
Role Model
  • Maintains a positive attitude and consistently adapts to work within the group
  • Places a high value on patient care
  • Exemplifies all the characteristics that a future resident or pharmacy student should possess
All residents completing their University of Kentucky residency training are eligible to receive this award. The award recipient is selected by residency preceptors. The award consists of a plaque and a restaurant gift certificate.
