Pre-Pharmacy Advisers
Students who apply to the University of Kentucky as freshmen or transfer students, will indicate future interest in applying to the Doctor of Pharmacy program by choosing Pharmacy in Box. 17: Pre-Professional Plan on the UK application. ANY major will work as long as you complete the pre-pharmacy classes. Please choose a major that you would be happy earning a degree in!
The majority of students either choose Undergraduate Studies, for students who are still exploring majors, OR, they choose Biology, Human Nutrition, or Agricultural Biotechnology. Those majors incorporate most of the required pre-pharmacy classes.
There are no specific requirements or applications to fill out to pursue pre-pharmacy. You just apply to the University of Kentucky as an undergraduate and choose a major. Application is not made to the Pharm.D. program until one or two years of undergrad (pre-pharm) are completed, depending on how you are approaching the coursework.
Other Kentucky colleges/universities offer the appropriate coursework required for admission to our Pharm.D. program. Therefore, students are not required to complete their pre-pharmacy coursework at UK. Please see our Transfer Equivalencies chart for the specific pre-pharmacy courses required at other academic institutions.
Each college/university should have individuals designated to advise their pre-pharmacy students as well. Each of these advisers should be familiar with the admission requirements and process for the UK College of Pharmacy. Please see the list below for the adviser(s) designated at your school.
