Brooke Hicks, Pharm.D.

2007-08 Kroger Resident

Dr. Brooke Hicks is from Elizabethtown, KY. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Kentucky in May 2007.

Dr. Hicks' primary practice site is with the Kroger Pharmacy Patient Care Center (PCC) located in Lexington, KY. She looks forward to assisting with the patient care initiatives currently being offered by Kroger pharmacists including immunizations, health and wellness screenings, and smoking cessation programs. A large part of her residency will be spent working with Kroger’s current medication therapy management (MTM) program, as well as organizing new MTM programs through Kroger Pharmacy. She is also very excited to be involved in the development and implementation of a diabetes care service at the PCC.

Her practice interests include disease state management programs, patient education, and pharmacy student education. Due to her strong interest in teaching, Dr. Hicks plans to complete The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Certificate Program. As a part of her residency, she will also be providing direct patient care and diabetes and cardiovascular disease management with the PharmacistCARE program through the University of Kentucky.

Bridger DeName, Pharm.D.

2006-07 PharmacistCARE Resident

Dr. Bridger DeName is from Cadiz, Kentucky. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in May 2006. Bridger is PharmacistCARE's first community practice resident.

Dr. DeName's primary practice site is with PharmacistCARE in the Kentucky Clinic at the University of Kentucky. In addition to providing diabetes and cardiovascular disease management and MTMS at PharmacistCARE, she is involved in setting up health initiatives at Kentucky Clinic Pharmacy, including an immunization clinic and monthly patient education services. Her practice interests include patient education initiatives, disease state management programs, and overall patient care. She is excited to work with a variety of people in the residency program including patients, students, pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare providers.

After completion of the residency program, Dr. DeName continued her employment with Kroger with responsibilities in the Georgetown, KY store and at the Kroger Patient Care Center in Lexington, KY. At the Patient Care Center, she is involved in the development and implementation of a diabetes care service and provision of MTMS and immunization services.

Marie Parker, Pharm.D.

2005-06 Kroger Resident

Dr. Marie Parker is from Augusta, Georgia. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Georgia in May 2005.

Dr. Parker's practice interests include disease state management programs, patient care activities and indigent care services. As a part of the residency she enjoyed gaining experience in both precepting and teaching students.

After completion of the residency program, Dr. Parker took a position with Humana, Inc. as a part of the Medication Therapy Management team.

Brad Ward, Pharm.D.

2005-06 APSC Resident

Dr. Brad Ward is from Plumbers Mill, Kentucky. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Kentucky in May 2005.

Dr. Ward's interests include disease management, particularly cardiovascular disease and the metabolic syndrome, precepting students and business management. After his residency experience, Dr. Ward became a partner with two independent pharmacies in his hometown. He practices at Colonial Village Pharmacy, which is a 6000 square foot pharmacy in Flemingsburg, KY. The site has an emphasis in diabetes management, orthotic shoe fittings, and MTMS. In addition to the clinical services, the store has several gift items, jewelry, and furnishings. He also precepts 4th year pharmacy students on APPE rotations from the University of Kentucky.

John McDaniel, Pharm.D.

2004-05 APSC Resident

Dr. John J. McDaniel is from Nicholasville, Kentucky. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Kentucky in May 2004.

Dr. McDaniel's practice sites included numerous independent pharmacies throughout Kentucky and the APSC headquarters located in Frankfort . He assists APSC pharmacists in providing health and wellness screenings, immunizations and other direct patient care services.

Dr. McDaniel practice interests include developing educational programs, pharmaceutical compounding, diabetes management, and consulting for long term care facilities. As a part of the residency he also gained experience in teaching.

He currently resides in Lexington , KY with his wife and children.He works for Home Convalescence Aid, Inc in Winchester, Ky

Dana Fuller, Pharm.D.

2004-05 Kroger Resident

Dr. Dana Fuller is originally from Campbellsville , Kentucky . She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in May 2004.

During her residency, Dr. Fuller practiced primarily at the Kroger Pharmacy in Richmond , Kentucky , while also gaining experience at corporate headquarters in Louisville and throughout the MidSouth Marketing area. She assisted Kroger pharmacists in over 75 stores in providing immunizations to thousands of patients around the state.

As a part of her residency, Dr. Fuller provided smoking cessation programs to interested patients using her certificate training in "The Cooper-Clayton Method to Stop Smoking." She also obtained a Teaching Certificate with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy offered to community residents. She participated in direct patient care and disease state management with the PharmacistCARE program through the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Fuller is currently a pharmacist with The Kroger Company in Lexington, Kentucky. She is married to her wonderful husband, Ches, and they have one daughter, Clara Grace, who was born June 26th, 2007.

JD Hammond, Pharm.D.

Dr. Hammond is originally from Paintsville, KY. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Kentucky in May 2003.

Dr. Hammond's practice sites included Family Discount Drugs in Owingsville, Kentucky and Morehead Clinic Pharmacy in Morehead, Kentucky, where he developed a men's health screening program and worked in a pharmacist-administered anticoagulation service.

JD's practice site following completion of the residency was with the Drug and Therapeutics Information Service (DATIS) program in Hazard, Kentucky, where he provided education to primary care physicians in that community. He is currently employed by Eli Lilly

Christy Taylor, Pharm.D., BCPS

2003-04 Kroger Resident

Dr. Taylor is originally from Beechmont, Kentucky in Muhlenberg County. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in May 2003.

Dr. Taylor's practice site was in Richmond, Ky; however, she worked with several pharmacies throughout the MidSouth Marketing Area to develop patient care initiatives. Her projects during her residency included expansion of Kroger's immunization program to include 27 sites where pharmacists will provide immunizations and development of a lipid screening and disease state management program.

Dr. Taylor is a pharmacotherapy board certified clinical staff pharmacist at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. She currently works with both neurology and oncology teams at UK. She is also very involved in local and state pharmacy organizations.

Laura Stinson, Pharm.D.

Dr. Stinson is originally from Hazard, Kentucky. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in May 2002.

Dr. Stinson was the first Community Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Kentucky with Kroger Pharmacy. During her residency year, her practice sites included Kroger pharmacies throughout the MidSouth Marketing Area in Kentucky including Richmond, Lexington, and Louisville with her primary site in Richmond, Ky. Her practice interests included health and wellness programs such as immunizations and smoking cessation and disease state management in osteoporosis. She spent much of her year developing an immunization program for the MidSouth Kroger Marketing Area where pharmacists gave over 2000 flu shots in Fall 2002. In addition, she developed an osteoporosis education program and completed her residency project in this area.

Dr. Stinson is currently employed at Toyota Family Pharmacy in Georgetown, Ky. This pharmacy is located in the Toyota manufacturing plant and is for Toyota employees and their family members. Dr. Stinson had the opportunity to help open this pharmacy and is working with the pharmacist-in-charge to develop future worksite wellness and disease management programs. She has also been employed at Ephraim McDowell in Danville providing Medication Therapy Management Services in their MTM clinic.

Tera McIntosh, Pharm.D.

2001-02 APSC Resident

Dr. McIntosh is originally from Bardstown, Kentucky. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in May 2001.

Dr. McIntosh had the honor of being the first Community Pharmacy Practice Resident at the University of Kentucky with American Pharmacy Services Corporation (APSC). Her practice sites included independent pharmacies throughout Kentucky and the corporate APSC headquarters located in Frankfort, Kentucky. Her practice interests included diabetes disease state management and health and wellness screenings. She spent much of her residency year developing a research project on the clinical outcomes of pharmacist-provided diabetes education, conducting health fairs including cholesterol, osteoporosis, blood glucose, and blood pressure screenings, teaching continuing education programs to pharmacists, and administering flu vaccines.

Upon completion of her residency Dr. McIntosh accepted a position at APSC headquarters in Frankfort for four years where she developed clinical programs for APSC community pharmacies. She also worked at Morehead Clinic Pharmacy with an anticoagulation clinic and created a diabetes education program. Dr. McIntosh is now on faculty at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy as the Assistant Director of the Patient Care Laboratory where she teaches the patient care process and compounding skills to students enrolled in the professional pharmacy curriculum. In addition, she continues to practice in independent, community pharmacy.
