Our research group's interests are in the area of drug design and natural product synthesis. A current theme of the group is development of new drugs and in improving the properties of existing therapies to solve problems in cancer treatment. This effort includes the rational design and synthesis of complex organic molecules as a novel class of multisubstrate inhibitors of target proteins implicated in various cancers. A second area is in the development of new methodology and its application to total synthesis. For this we will utilize a innovative and exciting ring expansion reaction which forms unusual heterocycles. All projects are intended to explore new targets through rational library design and target directed synthesis.
