Amy Nicholas - Pharm.D., CDE

Amy Suzanne Nicholas received her Pharm.D. at the University of Kentucky in 1997. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 1999 a specialty residency in ambulatory care at the UK in 2000.

Dr. Nicholas serves as the co-director of the UK College of Pharmacy PharmacistCARE Program, formally known as REACH. PharmacistCARE is an innovative pharmacy service that provides diabetes education and management and medication therapy management services to patients in the UK Health Care Plans. PharmacistCARE has been designated as a UK Commonwealth Collaborative and has received the KPhA Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award (2004) and the American Pharmacists Association Foundation Pinnacle Award (2005).

She is an Associate Professor at the UK College of Pharmacy. She is serves as the associate coordinator for the geriatrics elective course as well as teaching in the Nutrition, Non-Prescription and Advanced Therapeutics courses. Her practice interests include managed care, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension. She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator and serves as the advisor to the APhA-ASP, Academy of Student Pharmacists.
