Clinical Training Coordinator Clinical Education Center, Owensboro, KY
The Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a Clinical Training Coordinator (CTC) to be located in the UK Clinical Education Center (CEC) in Owensboro, Kentucky. This position is being established in partnership with the Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, KY. The successful candidate will coordinate all activities in Owensboro-Daviess County and surrounding area for students in the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience component of the final year of the College’s Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.
The CTC will report to the Director of Experiential Education on the Lexington campus and will be responsible for coordinating the rotations of all Owensboro CEC students. In this capacity the CTC will work with the Director to satisfy recently upgraded accreditation requirements for clinical education in the areas of preceptor training and teaching site development, implement pharmacotherapy grand rounds, and facilitate patient case presentations and literature reviews among the students and their preceptors. The CTC also will facilitate the expansion of clinical services at the teaching sites, and assist the institutions and community pharmacies with the development of additional residency programs.
Applicants should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy; further consideration will be given to applicants with residency training, relevant academic experience or with additional related professional education and training. The successful candidate will be appointed within the Department, with the type and rank of appointment determined by the qualifications of the individual.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science is seeking an individual to lead the faculty in building professional and graduate training programs to meet the University of Kentucky commitment to become one of the top 20 public research universities in the country. The individual selected will facilitate and inspire outstanding achievement in instruction and learning, research and scholarship, service and patient care by the faculty and staff. The department has faculty of widely diverse interests contributing to professional education programs and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Policy and Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics as well as pharmacy residency training and masters degree training programs. The Chair will also administer personnel and manage budget matters for the department; foster development of co-workers and colleagues, including faculty, staff, residents and students; and lead the continued development of outstanding relations with other practitioners and administrators in the College, UK HealthCare, University, the Commonwealth and the profession.

The Position
The position requires an individual with an earned doctorate who presents a demonstrated record of leadership and achievement in an academic environment. Experience with and leadership of extramurally supported scholarly and educational initiatives is very important.
The Faculty and Staff
The department has 56 faculty: 24 in tenure-track positions, 11 in the clinical title series track, 4 Lecturers, 12 with adjunct appointments and five in part-time positions. The faculty have wide ranging scholarly interests and jointly coordinate two PhD programs Clinical & Experimental Therapeutics and Pharmaceutical Policy. The faculty enjoys outstanding support and innovative interaction from 25 staff members in a wide variety of roles.
The Physical Facilities
The faculty and staff are currently housed in 11 buildings both on campus and off. In part, this reflects the diverse collaborations in which the faculty and staff engage with personnel and units across the university and community. A new 280,000 sq. ft. building for the College of Pharmacy is scheduled to be available for occupancy in 2010.
The Chandler Medical Center
The College of Pharmacy is part of the Chandler Medical Center, which consists of the Colleges of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. The College of Pharmacy Building is directly across the street from the University of Kentucky Hospital, a 473-bed facility, and the Universitys ambulatory care center, the Kentucky Clinic, is adjacent to the college. The department enjoys productive affiliations with numerous other health care facilities and programs throughout the Commonwealth for education and training, research, patient care and public service.
