Pharmacy Practice and Science
The mission of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science is to promote excellence and provide leadership in the pharmacy profession through scholarship in education, research and patient care that advances and improves medication and health-related outcomes for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.
Faculty in the PPS Department have significant teaching responsibilities in the Pharm.D. program and coordinate the dual Master degree programs in public administration, business administration and economics. Joint Ph.D. programs in clinical and experimental therapeutics and pharmaceutical policy also are offered in conjunction with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration. In addition, faculty members provide patient care services in the UK and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. Medication therapy management (MTM) services are provided as part of the UK PharmacistCARE program and faculty are involved in a variety of postgraduate and community pharmacy residency programs.
