Pharmacy Pathways Program Overview
The Pharmacy Pathway Program is.
- An opportunity to enhance the core educational courses offered in the Pharm.D. program.
- A way to become a designer of your own educational experience by selecting courses that interest you.
- Freedom to focus on courses that will develop unique skills.
- A more focused study, through courses and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE), that allows you as a pharmacist to become more competitive in the work environment.
- The potential to explore a future career path or area of study related to pharmacy.
- An opportunity to take courses and develop skills outside the College of Pharmacy.
- The chance to develop the ability to think critically in a concentrated area.
- A privilege to manage your independent learning in your own area of interest.
- An opportunity to interact with faculty, both inside and outside the College of Pharmacy, in a specialization area of interest to you.
What Are the Requirements of the Pathway Program?
Each Pharm.D. student must complete an area of concentration of study. Students are required to complete a minimum of eight elective course credit hours to fulfill the Pathway Program. Courses taken for credit for the Pathway Program must be at the 300 level or above (exceptions must be stated on the Pathway Approval Form or by consent of Academic Affairs). Note: These courses must be taken after enrollment in the College of Pharmacy; no credit will be given towards elective fulfillment for courses taken prior to enrollment. Students enrolled in courses outside the College of Pharmacy are subject to the listed prerequisites and requirements of those courses.
How Do I Choose My Pathway Program?
From the pathway options listed below choose the area that most appropriately describes your personal and/or career interest(s). Contact the faculty coordinator(s) by e-mail to ask questions or find out more about the recommended courses and APPE rotations. Near the end of your PY1 spring semester the Office of Education will contact you by email to find out which pathway you have selected.

How Do I Change or Update My Pathway Program?
You are permitted to change your pathway program if you have taken no more than six elective hours. Contact the Office of Education to change your pathway program selection or to propose modifications to your pathway program.
