Young Scientist Seminar Series

This seminar series is designed by AAPS at UK to aid in professional development and to address common questions of graduate students. The seminars will be informal and interactive with speakers coming from various backgrounds. Several topics will be covered during each semester such as job opportunities in industry versus academia, resume writing, and interviewing skills. Seminars are held at the announced dates at 4:30 pm, Room 222, College of Pharmacy.

“Pharmaceutical Careers at the FDA”

Jerome P. Skelly, Ph.D.

Dr. Jerome P. Skelly received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Wayne State University in Detroit. Next, he completed his postdoctoral training in Pharmaceutics at the University of California at San Francisco. For most of his career he held senior scientific and management positions in FDA. He served as a World Health Organization consultant to Egypt. Dr.Skelly has served for many years as a member of the U.S. Federal Government’s Senior Executive Service holding joint appointments as Deputy Director of CDER’s Office of Research and Associate Director for Science in the Office of Generic Drugs (OGD). He was selected an AAPS Fellow and awarded the 2002 AAPS Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to pharmaceutical science. Later, in 2005, he served as AAPS President.
