INTERN RETREAT

Hours of hiking, spelunking, and laughter over Derby pie bookend two days of orienting to the expectations of a UK peds intern. Held at Natural Bridge State Park, Intern Retreat is scheduled in September-October with the intent to equip our interns with crucial first-year survival skills. And as is often the case, strong bonds of trust and friendship are created that last long past the three to five years of residency. Realizing this, upper level residents gladly “watch after the fort” to ensure that all interns can be in attendance with no other responsibility than to have fun and get to know one another better. Lastly, while various stellar teaching faculty are around to facilitate discussion during orientation sessions, the bulk of time is spent “attending free” so that you can let your hair down and truly relax in the country resort atmosphere.

UPPER LEVEL RETREAT

Held in Shakertown, the Upper Level Retreat provides residents with the opportunity to reflect on the past (intern year seems a long time ago) and prepare for the future. Career advice, networking, planning and so much more happens at this brief but crucial meeting of residency seniors.
