NEONATOLOGY FELLOWSHIP CLINICAL ROTATIONS

Fellows will have approximately 12 one-month rotations on the NICU clinical service during the three year fellowship. There is 1 month each year of Neonatal Transport during which the fellow accompanies the neonatal transport team as they bring patients to the NICU from referring hospitals. There is a 1 month rotation on Maternal-Fetal Medicine and 2 1-month electives on other services in the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. The on-call schedule is not more often than every fourth night. Fellows are responsible for direct care of patients and teaching residents and medical students during rounds, at formal educational discussions and informally throughout the day. Participants will be certified as instructors in Neonatal Resuscitation and as such will participate in the teaching of other health care providers during the NRP courses that are offered periodically.

The University of Kentucky Graduate Medical Education Programs are required to remain in compliance with the residency duty hour restrictions as described by ACGME. These restrictions apply to all residency and fellowship programs within the University.
