Pathology in the Medical School Curriculum

Photo of Dr. Blechner giving a lecture to medical studentsPathology is the study of diseases that affect the human body. It provides knowledge of disease and a language essential to the physician as a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of human illness. Pathology occupies a critical position in the education of the physician. Its methodology is that of the basic sciences, but its intellectual stimulus is derived from the study of human disease. It is truly the bridge between the basic science and clinical science portions of the medical school curriculum.

Within the College of Medicine, Pathology is primarily delivered during the 2nd year.
