Research in Pathology

Research laboratories in the Experimental Pathology Division of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky carry out basic science research towards understanding fundamental aspects of disease processes and mammalian systems function. The close physical and intellectual affiliation of Pathology with other Departments of the UK Medical Campus as well as the Lexington Campus provides a multidisciplinary enrichment to the research and graduate training these laboratories carry out. Research programs of the faculty are diverse and range from studies of genomic alterations linked to human cancers, DNA repair enzymes and their role in human disease, control of mRNA post transcriptional processing, regulation of the synthesis and secretion of immunoglobulins, and the role of growth factors in nervous system development and function.
