a functional MRI view of the brain

Neuroimaging Studies of Depression
in Parkinson's Disease

What will participants be asked to do?

People who are interested in participating in this study will first undergo a short interview to make sure they are eligible. A member of the study team will ask for a brief medical and social history.

Eligible participants will be asked to come to the University of Kentucky Medical Center on three weekday mornings within a three-week period. The first of these visits will take about two hours. Participants will undergo a more thorough screening for eligibility including a neurological examination, psychiatric interview, and neuropsychological assessment.

Participants who continue to meet the guidelines will be asked to return to the UK Medical Center for two more morning appointments. At these visits, they will have an MRI, during which they will be asked perform tasks to examine memory and emotional processing. After the MRI, participants will have a neurological examination and undergo a series of psychological tests. These visits will culminate with a short video-taped interview.

Participation in the study will end with the third visit.
