Medical Oncology Clinical Service

The Medical Oncology Division provides medical treatments which include chemotherapy, targeted molecular therapy, immunotherapy and supportive and palliative care. The Markey Cancer Center's dedicated Multidisciplinary Treatment Team includes physicians from all subspecialties, nurses, pharmacists, and researchers who collaborate to provide coordinated care for all patients. Beginning with the initial diagnosis through survivorship, the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team is prepared to give the best care possible, placing the patient’s medical and emotional needs first. Patients are seen in a supportive environment where they are offered the latest advances in surgical, radiation and chemotherapeutic intervention. Along with superior existing treatment options, patients are also given the opportunity to participate in clinical trials carried out by our physicians and researchers. Through these trials we discover new and improved options for treating cancer. For convenience, we offer two clinics both located in the Whitney-Hendrickson Building on the Markey Cancer Center Campus, with a comfortable atmosphere for patients and their families and free parking immediately next to the clinic.

The medical oncology clinic is staffed by UK Markey Cancer Center physician Qaiser Niaz, M.D. The outpatient chemotherapy infusion center is staffed by nurses trained by UK Markey Cancer Center. Radiation oncology services are provided by Georgetown Cancer Treatment Center operated by UK.
