UK Center for Rural Health - MadisonvilleThe UK Center for Rural Health - Madisonville is based at Trover Health System and is part of a statewide program which was created as a way to improve the health status of the rural population of our commonwealth. The UK Center for Rural Health - Madisonville (UK CRH/M) covers 19 counties in western Kentucky working closely with area agencies, community organizations, and the UK Office of Health Research and Development (OHRD) to accomplish the following: create and maintain a statewide network for rural health initiatives; support and conduct rural-based research through university and local initiatives (i.e., UK Center for Clinical and Translational Scienceand the Office of Research and Engagement for the Advancement of Community Health); help improve the health of Kentuckians by maintaining knowledge of the health care delivery system and health care issues of the region; work to build a public and political constituency and maintain a liaison with legislators on rural health issues; and serve as an advocate for rural health policy for the state and region. The UK Center for Rural Health - Madisonville facilitates the development of educational, research, and service programs. In addition to developing and managing regional programs, this office participates with other Centers in forming a statewide network of rural health initiatives.
