University of Kentucky Highlights of Research Related to Obesity and Diabetes.

Overview: Research at the University of Kentucky (UK) focused on Obesity and/or Diabetes is funded through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at a total funding (2010) of $29.4 million. Total funding to UK in 2010 from the NIH was $167 million. Thus, approximately 18% of NIH funding to UK is related to research on diabetes and /or obesity.

In addition to NIH-funded resarch, investigators at UK receive research support from the American Diabetes Association ($2.6 million), the Obesity Society, and the Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Trust.
