Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Urogynecology

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the vagina and the organs that surround it fall from their normal position.

Symptoms:
  • Vaginal or pelvic pressure
  • Buldge or mass at the opening of the vagina
  • Urinary of bowel function changes
  • Painful intercouse

After our physicians discuss your symptoms, they will offer you the treatments that are most appropriate for your specific prolapse conditon.

Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is the inability to voluntarily control urinating.

Urinary incontinence can occur because of bladder muscle overactivity.  This type of urinary incontinence is called urge urinary incontinence. This type of urinary incontinence can be treated best with behavior modifications, bladder training techniques, and medications.

Urinary incontinence can also occur with daily activities such as coughing, sneezing, or laughing because of anatomical changes related to the bladder and vaginal support. This type of urinary incontinence is called stress urinary incontinence.  This type of urinary incontinence can be treated with pelvic floor strengthening exercises, pessary devices, and surgery.
